Sleeping is an essential part of the creative process. Don’t begrudge it. I often work late, partly the nature of my schedule, but mainly because that’s when the juice flows. I’ve pushed that flow hard, at times reaching a point where I should sleep, denying it, and keeping on. What I have found, however, is that when I have gone to sleep, giving up on wrestling with a scene that doesn’t gel, or dialogue which doesn’t sound true or sounds trite; when I wake the problem has resolved itself.
