I first went to Chesa back in 2000, for a colleagues birthday celebration. I can’t remember much about that night, but I did remember that the food was good.

It was some years later that I was in traffic coming from the Emporium, and I was hungry – thinking about where I could eat – I remembered Chesa. I quite often eat by myself – I enjoy it – order everything you like and don’t feel beholden. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy a good conversation over dinner and a glass of wine – but eating alone is a guilty selfish pleasure.

My personal favorite is the Chateaubriand for two (just eat it yourself but be hungry).

One of the things I really like about Chesa is its unpretentious nature – from the staff, through to the food and the owners – there is a naturalness that is appealing.

If you’re coming to Bangkok, and there’s a cold snap – or even if it is as hot as Hades, drop by – you won’t regret it.

  • Food

Excellent quality, generous portions, served quickly.

  • Atmosphere

Chesa is very laid back. Thomas and Rene are usually on-site, but the staff are all very professional and friendly anyway.

  • Location

If you’re driving then as you come from Sukhumvit Road Chesa is on Soi 20, the left. You can’t miss it. You can always get a parking spot .

  • Price

    Chesa is reasonable, great value.
